We made it to Big Bear Lake! It feels good to get out of San Diego County and we feel like we’re making some progress on the trail.
The weather made the stretch from Cabazon to Big Bear much more interesting than we anticipated. We were hiking in 90 degree weather and then the next day a large windy storm came blowing through, dumping rain and snow on many PCT hikers camping in the mountains above Big Bear. We got snowed on good at around 7,000 ft and stayed warm and dry but many hikers below us were drenched with heavy rain making for a miserable couple days.
Hiking through the snowy high mountains felt real special and was a great highlight of our hike so far.
Here’s some pictures from Idyllwild to Big Bear.
